Lunch Box

I've been complaining a lot about canteen food lately. The menu had potential, but the actual execution was always a let down. The veggies are constantly an overcooked pile of mash, there's too much fried food and too few veg options. And since they cut out the vital menu (with a low calorie count) I had to turn creative. The menu hit bottom when I was served a pile of sour red cabbage that should have been lightly sweet and cooked with apples and delicious, but it was not.

So I went I bought myself one of these. And yesterday put it to use for the very first time.

So at lunch time instead of going to the usual canteen, I took out the magic box:

And opened it to find it filled with home-made warm vegan goodness:

A whole lot of a mountain minestrone with barley, lentils, beans, carrots, potatoes and zucchini, just for me! I packed it in the morning boiling hot and after about 4-5 hours it was still hot enough to eat straight away. I'll certainly do this again! And it beats canteen food anytime.

Day 205 today. And I'm feeling simply great!
