Don't the days just fly by? We're approaching the 100-day mark so quickly. Less than a week, now.
Yesterday I took some time to watch the movie Earthlings. It touched me deeply, especially when I saw lab beagles being abused, since we do have a beagle back home. You can watch the movie on youtube (I highly recommend), and I believe afterward you won't look at your steak the same ever again. I am now so much more convinced that I do not want to contribute to the suffering of innocent animals. That's why I have been also using natural cosmetics the past year, that is purely vegan and not tested on animals!
I'll tell you one more thing that is eco-friendly. Why, my Kindle of course! :) Just look at this difference:
Same story on two devices. Why cutting down trees to publish cheap paperbacks, when you can have it electronic? And you only charge the device like once per month. And yes, we are already fighting whose turn it is to use it! :)
What with all the vegan spirit peaking high today I visited my Loving Hut supplier for some more of those chow mein.
A bit different ingredients today, no red cabbage for example, but plenty of some other greens I do not know the names for. And I kindly asked to hold the mushrooms and not make it spicy and the guy was super obliging and did it to my taste. It was just yummi! And no more pasta this weeks, darn.
I wanted to try the tiramisu, too, but having no fridge at work, I didn't want it to get spoiled before I got hungry again. So, maybe next time.

I cannot watch the video, once in primary school I had to make a presentation about cosmetics being tested on animals and that left a mark... I'm literally unable to watch animal suffering.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you love your Kindle, my mom is also addicted to hers. I know it's not environmental friendly, but I still prefer real books, but I guess I do not read as much as you two do.
Oh, one more thing I wanted to ask: what brand of cosmetics did you choose to use?
ReplyDeleteI now mainly use Alverde by DM. Most products are purely vegan and they do not test on animals. Plus, it's really budget friendly, given that is natural cosmetics. Not that I use a lot of cosmetics, but when you start reading labels and thinking about what you use - the skin is the largest organ and it soaks up everything you put on it. And I just don't want to soak it with petrol anymore. I don't know if you're familiar with the Alverde brand, but I recommend trying. They usually sell sample-size packages as well.
ReplyDeleteBrands like Loreal, Colgate etc. all test on animals. Not to mention the triclosan in Colgate toothpaste, which is basically a pesticide.
It's really hard to watch such movies, but sometimes we need to be reminded of what's really going on, because we tend to simply put it aside and not think about the wrong. It certainly did me good in the long run.
